JONATHAN MITCHELL

Since graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, in 1990, Jonathan Mitchell has developed a considerable reputation as a painter of the Scottish landscape, with his work collected throughout the UK and internationally.

His paintings have a strong emphasis on drawing, light, atmosphere and a sense of real places visited.

DOG FRIENDLY | VENUE 81 | 10:00 - 17:00

'Cliffs near Arbroath'. Oil on board. I like to paint places I have directly experienced. Our diverse landscape in Scotland is a constant well of inspiration.

'After Heavy Snow, Alyth Den'. Oil on board. Through drawing and the rendering of light I hope to convey how it felt to be at the places I have visited.

'Spring Sunshine in Carcassonne'. Oil on board. Recent visits to France have given me the opportunity to explore a different light and atmosphere in my painting.
