HENDERSON-INGLIS BURSARY

SUPPORTING EMERGING ARTISTS

Are you passionate about a career in the arts? The Henderson-Inglis Bursary at the Pittenweem Arts Festival offers a unique opportunity for emerging artists like you. This award is not just a prize; it’s a stepping stone to establishing your career in the arts. The Henderson-Inglis Bursary is named in honour of David Henderson and Sheila Inglis's long-term support. This is a practical, valuable opportunity for any emerging artist looking to make a mark.

This Bursary is open to:

  • All emerging artists/craftspeople including students in their final year of study or graduates from a degree/HND/or Further Education.
  • Students who have completed arts and crafts courses in the last three years.
  • Self-taught artists who have set up their practice in the last three years.

The Henderson-Inglis Bursary provides an emerging artist with accommodation and exhibition space in a prime location on the shorefront during the Pittenweem Arts Festival (1-8 August 2026). The successful candidate will receive a £750 payment towards expenses.

The selection panel are given all Bursary applications, images and CVs. They then vote on their choices for the successful candidate. Other than the requirement for the candidate to be an emerging artist, they have complete discretion as to how they vote.

For the second year, we are also offering a shared exhibition in a central venue during the Festival to the shortlisted artists, widening the scope of the Bursary and its impact.

The deadline to submit an application is 13th March 2026.

2025 WINNER & RUNNERS UP

AIMIE HARDING

Aimie recently earned her degree in Art and Philosophy from Duncan and Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee. Drawing inspiration from nature and science fiction, she constructs intricate seed pod forms that evoke both natural growth and futuristic design.

Her process blends traditional and experimental techniques — wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramics, woodworking, sound recording, and creative writing — resulting in tactile, multidisciplinary pieces.

These works serve as vessels of time and imagination, resonating with themes of transformation, memory, and continuity. With a foundation in both art and philosophy, Aimie's practice invites reflection on our connection to the environment.

2025 EMERGING ARTISTS

In recognition of the talent among the shortlisted applicants, we were proud to present a special emerging artists exhibition in 2025. The featured artists were all emerging voices in the art world and each one was chosen for their originality, the development of their ideas, and their confident, skilled use of materials and techniques.
