MORAG MUIR

My Studio is a living and working environment housing objects and bric-a-brac collected over many years. These objects become the actors within my still life compositions. They dress the stage and support the developing narrative which often reflects everyday situations and happenings in my life.

These happenings are often played out in conversations within the canvas. The viewer however has licence to place their own interpretation on the scene, as these stories will inevitably resonate with shared experiences of heartache, pain, parenthood, loss, love and joy.

The spectacular view from the studio looking across the Tay Estuary, and the vista of the city of Dundee inevitably influence the construct and backdrop to these conversational settings.

DOG FRIENDLY | VENUE 65 | 10:00 - 17:00

'Mellow Moon'. This work continue the series of 'moon paintings' showing the Dundee at dusk. The application of the paint conveys the subtle hues of the day utilizing acrylic in a transparent manner echoing the style of watercolour.

'Buttermilk Moon'. Another work in my series of 'Moon Paintings' with figurative elements that reflect family and a supportive sensibility.

'Cyan Moon'. Part of my 'Moon Series' of paintings this work captures the cool, sharp light of a winter evening contrasting the warmth of the still life made up of a family of birds. As is often the case, there is an 'elephant in the room'.
