PLANNING YOUR VISIT

THE FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE

Immerse yourself in a vibrant showcase of creativity, right within the charming village of Pittenweem in the picturesque East Neuk of Fife. This festival isn't your typical gallery experience. Here, art comes alive in the most unexpected places - from cosy front rooms to quirky garages, and even inviting sheds. It's a unique opportunity to connect with lots of talented artists in a more personal and intimate setting.

Make sure you wander through all the nooks and crannies of Pittenweem, you’ll discover an exciting array of stunning artworks. This festival prides itself on celebrating the joy of art in everyday spaces, making it more accessible and relatable. Engage directly with the artists, gain insights into their creative process, and even take home a piece of their work. The festival not only showcases a diverse range of art but also highlights the natural beauty and cultural richness of Pittenweem.

If you have more time, build your visit in as part of a trip to explore the East Neuk of Fife.

EXPLORE THE ART

Pre-order or purchase a Festival Brochure when you arrive, which details all the exhibiting artists and has a handy map to help you navigate and prioritise the art you’d like to see. We also include an overview of the events on offer. The brochure is available at the Car Park, the Box Office and in many of the venues.

Check out our Invited Artist and our Exhibiting Artist information to find out more about the work that’s on display – and don’t forget to visit this year’s Henderson Bursary Award Winner, Aimie Harding. All of our exhibiting artists are supplied with a branded, numbered board, to help you navigate your journey round the village.

NEW FOR 2025 - 4 ARTIST COMMUNITIES IN ONE VILLAGE!

Following visitor feedback, this year we have zoned the village to make it easier to explore: West Village, East Village, Central & Harbour.  Our brochure and our map detail the 4 areas - make sure you take advantage of refreshments in each of our 4 corners!

Pittenweem is compact and easily accessible on foot, but it is hilly, so we also have a dedicated free bus service for those with mobility needs, on a loop that will take you to various Festival delights!

We ask you to remember that many of the venues are people’s homes, and to be respectful of their property. The artists also make it clear on the brochure guide if they are able to accept well-behaved pets.

INDULGE IN THE EVENTS

Make sure you take advantage of the variety of events at the Festival – from workshops to artist talks. There’s lots happening for visitors of all ages, running from 10.00am in the morning through to the evening. The events programme changes every day, so make sure pick up a copy of the daily events list and book early!

AND DON'T FORGET REFRESHMENTS

Pittenweem has a variety of places to stop off, recharge and plan the rest of your adventure. From the coffee shops in the High Street, to outlets at the Harbour, and of course, good old fish and chips! There's also lots of places for an al fresco picnic if the weather holds!

VISITING THE FESTIVAL

As we strive to make the festival more sustainable, we encourage visitors to explore alternative travel options and reduce waste where possible.

ACTIVE TRAVEL

Walking and cycling are great options around the East Neuk of Fife. Fife’s coastal path meanders from Kincardine to Newburgh and walking to Pittenweem from St Monans or Anstruther takes around 20 minutes.

Cycling is also a popular option and this year bicycle racks have been added to the car park for bike storage.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

There are two bus services to and from Pittenweem. The 95 runs hourly from St Andrews to Leven and back, and the X60 runs hourly from St Andrews to Edinburgh return. Download the Stagecoach app for bus travel information.

Leven train station, which has a bus station opposite, runs half hourly services to and from Edinburgh. Download the Scotrail app for rail travel information.

PARKING

Please use the designated festival car park, which can be accessed from Charles Street and is signposted from all directions of approach. Our stewards will direct you to a parking spot. To help cover the costs involved in providing parking, a donation of £5 is suggested.

Coaches and camper vans will be directed to alternative parking at Waid campus in Anstruther. Coaches may drop off their passengers at the Charles Street car park in Pittenweem, before parking at the Waid
campus in Anstruther.

Please do not drive your car into the village as traffic restrictions apply.

Observe all ROAD CLOSED signs and RESIDENTS ONLY signs.

DISABLED PARKING AND TOILET FACILITIES

Disabled parking and toilet facilities are available adjacent to the shuttle bus stance in the Charles Street car park. There are additional toilet facilities at West Braes, Coastline Community Church on Session Street, the harbour and the Church Hall on James Street.

ACCESS

The Festival Office has an access ramp, and each venue listing in our brochure includes a symbol indicating wheelchair accessibility. Seating areas are provided throughout the village.

BABY CHANGING

There are baby changing facilities at the Festival Office on the High Street and at the Church Hall on James Street.

FESTIVAL SHUTTLE BUS - FREE DAILY

To help everyone access the festival there is a free shuttle bus for wheelchair users and
people with limited mobility. Departing from the Charles Street car park, it will drop off on the High Street and the harbour. The driver will stop or pick up on request, where traffic allows, and help with non-motorised wheelchairs and buggies. (Buy a brochure and see the map included for pick up/drop off points.)

REDUCING WASTE

Please help to reduce waste where possible by bringing and using refillable water bottles and reusable cups. Feel free to bring a picnic and use the area at West Braes to enjoy lunch and the incredible views.

For unavoidable waste there are now six recycling stations around the village.
