SARAH KNOX

Sarah Knox grew up watching the dramatic tidal seascape of the North Norfolk coast.

Her recent paintings are symphonies of colour and reflect the seascapes and landscapes of the wild coastlines of Scotland and Northumberland. She manages to capture those fleeting sensations as winds roll in, the wrath of the sea and the atmosphere.

Her oil paintings reveal lost and found layers, the push and pull of paint and nail memories of place wrapped in emotion, rather than mapping the land. In smaller paintings, Sarah distils her interpretations of light and weather.

Her work is a contemporary response to the northern romantic landscape tradition.
