FRAN MARQUIS
AT SPRINGFIELD CREATIVE ARTS

I make sculptural and functional ceramics inspired by the beautiful coastline of Angus where I live. My work relates to the sea stacks and cliffs, the sea stacks and caves, I use the local clay sometimes and record the sound of the sea and rolling stones to use in my work.

Recently I have also been inspired by the shapes and forms of tiny sea creatures, plankton, radiolarii and foramenifera and basing sculpture on these amazing shapes. The drawings of images through a microscope by Ernst Haukl have been inspirational.

I have taken part in Pittenweem over the last 10 years and this venue, though small has the best view!
