ELLIE FIDDES

Ellie is an experienced fibre artist, who constantly develops her practice.

She currently spends much of her time producing Dirty Pot Ecoprints, both on fabrics and on water colour paper. This natural process, of transferring a print direct from an individual leaf, takes beautifully on fabrics such as silk, cashmere, and linen. No additional chemicals are needed.

This is a lovely way to create stunning pieces with natural earthy shades as a background to moody purples, sultry oranges subtle greens and striking sable prints. It is also a delightful way to rescue and repurpose quality fabrics and garments. Ellie also incorporates her printing with her other work.

She processes fleece and spins her own yarns for various projects, such as wall hangings. Having learned to crochet as a child in the Border hills (where her father was a shepherd) she has become a bit of an expert over the years, using a variety of specialist techniques in her work, and teaching others.
