DEREK ROBERTSON

Derek works between studios in Fife and the Isle of Skye. Graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone Art College, Dundee in 1989, he exhibits work in galleries around the world. His paintings are held in collections in over 50 countries including the royal family, The Tate Gallery and The Scotland Office. 

He is a professional member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Society of Scottish Artists and the Society of Animal Artists in the USA. He is regularly featured in press, radio and television. His first book, “Highland Sketchbook” was nominated for the McVities Prize. He has written and presented a number of TV programmes including a four-part series, “Drawn From Wild Places” which was nominated for a Scottish Bafta and an award at the Cannes Film Festival. His books have received critical acclaim from around the world and his last book was listed in the “best bird books of 2023” and shortlisted for the Gaelic Literature Awards. 

Derek is also a respected amateur naturalist and his research has been published in many scientific papers and journals. His paintings have won numerous national and international awards in the USA, UK, Russia and Europe.
